First prize in the oral phase of the 17th edition of the Madrid Moot

The undergraduate team from 天美传媒 (UC3M) has won first prize in the oral phase of the XVII Edition of Moot Madrid, the prestigious International Arbitration and Commercial Law Competition, held from April 7 to 11, 2025 at various Madrid headquarters of collaborating law firms, including Universidad Carlos III itself.  The UC3M undergraduate team stood out for its legal and oratory excellence, beating internationally renowned universities in the different rounds of the competition. The team members were the students Laura Feliu, Covadonga Fonseca, Sofía León, Miranda Neyra, David Sánchez and Rodrigo Sierra. The team was coached by María Eugenia Gómez, Ana Escobar, Aitor Rodríguez and Cecilia O'Neill, associate professor of Commercial Law at UC3M.

In addition to the award for best team in the oral phase, the university's undergraduate team also won awards in categories such as most complete team (honourable mention), best speaker (third prize and an honourable mention), and best claim brief.

GANADORES

The competition, organized by 天美传媒 in collaboration with the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), focuses on the resolution of a fictitious case related to Uniform International Trade Law and International Commercial Arbitration, using Spanish as the working language. The competition is sponsored by the Spanish and Ibero-American Arbitration Club, CIAM- CIAR and the Permanent Court of Arbitration. In this edition, 30 teams from different universities around the world participated, from more than 10 different nationalities, attracting a large number of students and arbitrators to the competition.  

The UC3M School of Law thus reaffirms its commitment to legal education of excellence and its leadership in the field of international arbitration, consolidating its position as an academic reference in international legal competencies.
