    This Master’s program stands out because it offers a global education within the specialization of digital law, which regulates the Information Society.

    It is a unique program that addresses some areas which are interrelated and essential to a comprehensive understanding of legal regulatory regimes in new technologies.

    With this structure, the Master’s program guarantees the solid, specialized education necessary to carry out professional work of excellence in one of the sectors most sought after by the business world and by law firms.

    The program is organized into four thematic segments: Telecommunications Law, Data Protection Regulation, Audiovisual Law and the Information Society (electronic commerce, electronic administration and justice).

      The request must be submitted electronically through our application system. Before beginning the admission process, please read the following information:

      Requirements

      In order to access the course you need an official Spanish university degree or another qualification from a higher educational institute in another member state of the European Higher Education Area provided that it is sufficient to qualify for a master's degree in Law in the issuing state.

      Candidates with qualifications from countries which are not members of the European Higher Education area may be admitted if they can attest that their degree corresponds to an educational level equivalent to official Spanish university qualifications, again provided that they are of a sufficient level for entry to post graduate courses in their own country.

      Candidates with qualifications from countries outside the European Higher Education Area may attest to basic knowledge of Union Law and its institutions as well as the Spanish constitutional system. In any case those who are unable to attest to this fact should undertake a basic initiation course in European Union law and Spanish constitutional law.
       

      Admission criteria

      The selection of candidates will be made by the Steering Committee of the Master considering the following criteria:

      RECOMMENDED PROFILE

      1. Degree and Bachelor's Degree in Law in Spain

      2. College graduates and alumni in law from other countries with degrees that give access to master's studies in accordance with Spanish or EU legislation, must take a basic course of introduction to the Spanish system that is offered as a training complement.

      students with foreign university degrees

      Once admitted to the Master’s program, students holding a university degree from a higher education institution outside the EHEA must provide the diploma, legalized through diplomatic procedures or by The Hague Apostille, for enrollment. They must also submit their transcript of records, including the grade point average, duly legalized.

  • SCHOLARSHIPS

    The Master in Telecommunications Law, Data Protection, Audiovisual and Information Society offers its own aid program that rewards academic achievements along their period. There are three prizes* to be awarded at the end of each academic year to those students who have obtained the highest overall ratings, by returning a percentage of the amount of tuition fees.

    The prizes have the following content:

    • Top student: 50% of the total registration fee
    • The student with the second best grade: 30% of the total registration fee
    • The student with the third best grade: 20% of the total registration fee

    *The awards will be applied to the academic net rates which have not been previously exempted.

      Course 0

      Course 0 Introduction to Spanish and European Union Law  aims to provide foreign students of the different Official Masters of the Graduate School of Law with the necessary basis to face in the best conditions their specialized postgraduate studies at UC3M so that they can achieve an optimal use of them.

      The target audience of this Course will be those students who have obtained their academic degree in Law outside Spain, either in other European Union States or in third countries or in a discipline other than Law, either in Spain or abroad. These students must attend Course 0, unless they can prove that they have at least 3 years of prolonged professional legal experience in Spain. In any case, they must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the basic institutions of Spanish and European Law through the evaluation test scheduled in Course 0. Once the exam has been passed, a certificate of attendance and completion of the course will be issued.

  • AEPD-DPD SCHEME

    The Master's program in Telecommunications, Data protection, Audiovisual and Information Society Law has been recognized on 23/09/2021 (Recognition 1/2021) by the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) as a training entity for the purposes of the Certification Scheme for Data Protection Officers (AEPD-DPO).

    This is the first university master's degree program to obtain this recognition after passing a certification process by the AEPD. The contents of the program have obtained the declaration of conformity as a training program adapted to the DATA PROTECTION DELEGATE (DPD) Certification Scheme.

    The recognized contents in the program total 180 hours distributed in Domain 1 (90 hours), Domain 2 (54 hours) and Domain 3 (36 hours) in classroom mode and with criteria for passing based on case studies, exams, group work and Master's Thesis.

    The recognition granted by the AEDP as a Training Entity will remain in force as long as the requirements verified to obtain it in accordance with the AEPD-DPD Scheme in its current version (program, distribution by domain, teaching methodology and validation method), or the scheme itself as far as it may affect it, are not modified.

    • CURRICULUM

      STRUCTURE

      The syllabus for this Double Master's degree is structured around three teaching terms and a compulsory work placement for which students will obtain 54 ECTS of the University Master's degree in Telecommunications, Data Protection, Audiovisual and Information Society Law and 75 ECTS corresponding to the University master's degree in Legal Practice and Representation.

      The 129 total credits on the dual syllabus are broken down as follows:

      • In the first term, compulsory subjects on the Telecommunications, Data Protection, Audiovisual and Information Society Law course corresponding to the main part of this degree (24 ECTS in total, in afternoon classes).
      • In the second term some compulsory subjects will be studied, completing the technical training in Legal Practices and Professional Activity of the Master's degree in Legal Practice and Representation (30 ECTS in total in morning classes) and a second phase of the Telecommunications, Data protection, Audiovisual and Information Society Law specialization (24 ECTS in total taught in the afternoons).
      • In the third and final term, one compulsory subject on the Legal Practice and Representation course corresponding to the main part of this degree (9 ECTS in morning classes),  the guided external work placement designed for students to acquire the skills and abilities needed to exercise the profession of law, and the final dissertation for both master's degrees.

      21 of your ECTS credits will be recognized and at the end of the course you will have obtained two official Master's qualifications.

      Classes for the specialization Master's program begin in September and classes for the Master's program in Legal Practice and Representation begin in March.

      Important

      To be admitted to the Doble Master Degree you have to be admitted by the Academic Committee of the Master in Legal Practice and Representation. If your application for admission to the Double Master Degree is Not Accepted, you can still apply for admission to the Master in Telecommunications, Data protection, Audiovisual and Information Society Law if you want.

      On the other hand, the admission to the Master in Telecommunications, Data protection, Audiovisual and Information Society Law doesn’t imply the admission to the Master in Legal Practice and Representation.

      In any case, the resolution will be communicated to the applicant.

      2 Admission and registration on the double master's degree course will provide exemption from ECTS credits which will be validated according to the curriculum (see Program). Having obtained credits from both syllabuses, together with validation of 21 ECTS you will be able to obtain two official master's qualifications in little more than a year and a half. This exemption from payment of fees for validating ECTS credits shall only be applicable to students registered on the Dual Master's degree from the start.
